Exercise, Food & Weight

Hunger is physiological, it’s your body’s request for fuel. Do not try to win the war against hunger. Listen to your body!”

According to sports nutritionist Nancy Clark:

Food is fuel. Food is health. As humans, we are SUPPOSED to eat. Too many people try to “stay away” from food (especially “carbs”) in their efforts to lose body fat.

People need to know that food “works”; that what and when and how they eat matters in terms of enjoying high energy, feeling good, and performing well, whether you are an athlete, fitness exerciser or “just” a busy person.

Carbs are not “fattening” – but rather the preferred fuel for your muscles and brain.”

Tune in to this episode to learn about:

  • The physiology of hunger
  • Why and how to “listen to your body”
  • The connection between weight and exercise (weight loss, weight maintenance, weight gain, disordered eating)
  • How COVID-19 has impacted weight and exercise
  • How menopause impacts weight and exercise
  • Fueling your body for fitness, daily activities, and “performance”
  • Why the fear of “carbs” could be interfering with exercise and weight management
  • The four food “buckets” and protein “pacing”
  • The importance of rest when it comes to exercise and weight
  • The truth about “resting cardio”
  • Common questions and myths about food, nutrition, exercise and weight

The lightest athlete is not the best athlete, if the cost of being lean and light is suboptimal eating. The best athlete is well fueled, well rested, and genetically gifted.”

If you want to lose weight, fuel by day and “diet” by night (eat less dinner) so you lose weight when you are sleeping instead of when you are trying to exercise, work, study, and have a productive day.”
