IFIC is a not-for-profit science communications organization based in Washington, DC that addresses various food-related topics with its team of RDs, PhDs and communications professionals. They are dedicated to the mission of effectively communicating science-based information on health, nutrition and food safety for the public good. IFIC’s vision is a global environment where credible science drives food policy and consumer choice. They subscribe to Ten Guiding Principles as they work to help improve the health and well-being of individuals, families and communities.
IFIC focuses on and offers information and resources regarding consumer research and surveys on perceptions, behaviors, and trends. They also offer webinars and free continuing education opportunities for dietitians.

Kris Sollid is a registered dietitian with a passion for improving nutrition science communications. He is the Senior Director of Nutrition Communications at the International Food Information Council (IFIC) which is a not-for-profit science communications organization based in Washington, DC that addresses various food-related topics with its team of RDs, PhDs and communications professionals. As Senior Director of Nutrition Communications at IFIC, Kris leads their nutrition team in monitoring nutrition research making media headlines to analyze how nutrition science is conveyed and its impact on consumer attitudes, beliefs and trust in information related to food and health. Since joining IFIC in 2009, his role has included leading consumer research projects, health professional outreach, educational resource development, social and traditional media engagement, and timely written contributions to IFIC’s website, as well external consumer and peer-reviewed publications.
Although born and raised in California, Kris has earned degrees from the University of Colorado, Boulder and the University of Maryland, College Park. He is an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and was the 2018-2020 President of DCMAND, the Academy’s District of Columbia Metro affiliate.
