Melissa did a fantastic job of presenting a session called From Science to Soundbites: Connecting the Dots and Communicating Facts to Canadian Dietitians at the Royal Winter Fair Food and Nutrition Forum. Not only did she tackle and debunk several food myths related to agriculture; she also shared examples that dietitians could use to communicate these sometimes-complex issues with their clients. Melissa also empowered her audience giving them specific techniques and resources to help them source credible information and then distill it to useful information that ultimately would help people make confident food choices. We loved her ‘facts not fear’ approach and that she customized her presentation with Canadian statistics and resources.
