5 Ways Summertime Beverages Can Help You Hydrate, Celebrate & Manage Your Weight
Summer has finally arrived, and along with it comes a few things I’ve been eagerly anticipating. My dreams of warmer weather, outdoor activities and summertime celebrations have come true.
If you’re like me, you tend to drink more beverages as the weather warms up. It makes sense as you spend more time outdoors or attending social gatherings. But are you aware of the extra “liquid calories” you may be adding to your diet? If you’re not careful, one or two extra beverages could add up to several hundred calories or even more! And those extra calories can lead to weight gain if you don’t balance them out with physical activity or by cutting back somewhere else in your diet. Unless you are exercising for more than an hour, you don’t need extra calories from sugar (carbohydrate). But, you do need to stay well-hydrated in the heat.
You might want to consider substituting low-calorie sweeteners for sugar in your summertime beverages. This swap allows you to enjoy sweet drinks without the extra calories, and it makes it easier for you to manage your weight. Scientific research has proven that low calorie sweeteners are safe and effective for weight management.
